Ziyarat of Mount Arafat and Muzdalifah

Arafat and Muzdalifah are the places where pilgrims spend the most important days of Hajj. They are not part of Umrah, but many Umrah travellers visit them to see the places they have read about.

Arafat is a plain about 20 km east of Masjid al-Haram. Jabal al-Rahmah, the Mount of Mercy, rises from the plain; standing at Arafat on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah is the central rite of Hajj. Muzdalifah lies between Arafat and Mina, where pilgrims spend the night after Arafat and collect pebbles for the stoning in Mina.

The visit is made by road and usually takes a few hours, often with a drive through Mina on the way. Outside the Hajj season the sites are quiet.
