Jabal al-Nour visit

Jabal al-Nour, the Mountain of Light, is in the north-east of Makkah. Near its summit is the Cave of Hira, where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to retreat for reflection, and where the first verses of the Quran were revealed to him.

The path to the cave is steep, with many steps, and the climb takes around an hour, often longer. Many people visit only the foot of the mountain. If you plan to climb, go early in the morning or later in the afternoon, wear proper shoes and carry water.

Climbing the mountain is not a rite of Umrah. Visitors come for its place in the history of revelation.
