Madinah

Mount Uhud visit

Mount Uhud is a mountain on the northern side of Madinah. The Battle of Uhud took place at its foot in the third year after the Hijrah (625 CE).

Visitors stop at the cemetery of the martyrs of Uhud, where Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's uncle, is buried with other companions who fell in the battle. Facing it is the small hill known as the Archers' Hill (Jabal al-Rumah), where the Prophet placed a group of archers during the battle.

The visit is mostly outdoors. Bring water and a hat, and wear comfortable shoes if you want to climb the Archers' Hill.
